Beloved actor and comedian Robin Williams was found dead on Monday, police reported.
The apparent cause of death was suicide, authorities said.
He was 63.
According to the Marin News, an autopsy will be conducted tomorrow. The paper noted that Williams, a recovering alcoholic, had recently checked into a rehab facility. “He has been battling severe depression of late,” his publicist, Mara Buxbaum, said in a statement to The Wrap. “This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”
“I LOST MY HUSBAND AND BEST FRIEND.”
The Wrap also published a statement from his wife, Susan Schneider: “This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beingsI am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”
One of my favorite movies growing up was Mrs. Doubtfire, a film made everything it was by Robin Williams. He was also well known for his role in Jumanji. Williams won the Academy Award for Best Supporting actor for his portrayal of Dr. Sean Maguire in Good Will Hunting.
His most recent role was his starring position in a new CBS sitcom called ‘The Crazy Ones’, however the show was cancelled after just one season.
Robin Williams rose to fame while playing Mork the alien in Mork & Minday, a Happy Days spinoff.
