ST. CROIX – A man crashed into a utility pole on Estate Mountain road and died later from the injuries he sustained in the accident, according to police.

A 911 emergency call came in on Sunday May 3 at 11:02 p.m. about the accident and when police arrived on the scene, they found a concerned citizen administering CPR to the unresponsive driver, police said.

Police said the concerned citizen was not involved in the accident. A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was driving a blue Mitsubishi pickup truck when it struck the utility pole on Estate Mountain Road.

The driver later succumbed to his injuries at the Juan Luis Hospital and Medical Center’s emergency room.  The identity of the man is not being released, pending notification of family members.

Traffic investigators continue to investigate the matter.
