ST. CROIX — A man was rushed to the Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center where his condition remains unknown after being shot in his kidney in the wee hours of Sunday morning, VIPD Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced today.

According to Ms. Freeman, the victim, a 30-year-old man, sustained a gunshot wound to the back, which injured his kidney and exited his body through the abdomen. According to the preliminary report, the victim was shot inside of the Corner Pocket Nightclub located in Estate LaReine (pictured above), after a struggle with someone who assaulted him with a gun on his back and demanded that he turnover his personal belongings and cash.

Police are asking anyone with information concerning this incident to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-712-6024, 911 or Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
