JFL Changes Prescription Blanks

Community Center / Health / News / January 30, 2016

ST. CROIX — The Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center (JFL) will be changing its Prescription Blanks next month. The new forms will take effect Monday, February 1, 2016, and they will be numbered sequentially. They will also include expanded security features.

Patients of JFL, family members or other members of the community who have gotten prescriptions written at JFL prior to January 31, 2016, are urged to get those prescriptions filled by February 15, 2016. After that date, local pharmacies will no longer be accepting those prescriptions as valid. JFL Director of Pharmacy Services Laura Forbes, said.“The abuse of controlled substances available by prescription is a serious problem in the United States. As a result, many states now have requirements that prescription blanks with enhanced security be utilized. The change at JFL is in line with national efforts, and part of our commitment to ensure the safety of our patients and protection of our community.”

For more information on the prescription changes at JFL, please contact the Pharmacy Department at (340) 778-6311, or JFL Public Information Officer Erica Parsons at (340) 778- 6311 extension 2913.
