ST. THOMAS — A man told police that he was shot in his right leg in the wee hours of Wednesday morning while traveling up Raphune Hill on his scooter, V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman has announced.
According to Ms. Freeman, officers responded to the incident at 1:50 a.m. after receiving a report of a gunshot victim who was seeking treatment at the Roy Lester Schneida Hospital. The victim said he abandoned his scooter and hustled into the bushes after realizing that he had been shot.
He was unable to provide any information on the make or model of the vehicle that fired after him, nor any reason as to why anyone would want to shoot him, according to Ms. Freeman.
The V.I.P.D. is asking the public to assist in apprehending the person or persons who may have been involved in this incident by contacting the Major Crimes Unit at 340-714-923 extension 5617, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-714-9807 extension 5556, the Office of the Chief of Police at 340-774-2211 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI at 800-222-8477.
