ST. THOMAS — Two people were shot in St. Thomas in the wee hours of Friday, V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman has announced.

The first victim, a 28-year-old black male, was already undergoing surgery for his injuries when police arrived at the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital at 2:50 a.m. He could not make a statement, Ms. Freeman said. The victim sustained a single gunshot wound to his upper chest.

Minutes later, at approximately 2:55 a.m., officers made contact with a second victim, a 28-year-old black female, who stated that she was in the Oswald Harris Court Housing Community when she was shot. She sustained multiple gunshot wounds about her body and was taken into surgery, police said. Details on what triggered the incident were not released.
