Man Shot In Bovoni, Dies At Hospital

ST. THOMAS — A man was killed by gunfire here in the Bovoni Housing Community late Friday, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte made known via press release Saturday.

According to Mr. Dratte, the 911 emergency call center received notification from several residents that shots had been fired in the Bovoni area. Residents also notified the call center of a vehicle that had crashed into bushes near building D of the housing community.

Moments later, a resident notified 911 that a vehicle was en route to the Schneider Regional Medical Center with a gunshot victim aboard, Mr. Dratte said.

The victim, who succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, was identified as 23-year-old Mario Huggins of the Bovoni Housing community. He sustained a single gunshot wound to the upper body, according to police.

Police are pleading with the public to come forward with information that may lead to the arrest of criminals.
