Upon officers arrival, contact was made with the physician on duty, who told police that the victim appeared to have sustained trauma to the head and suffered brain injury. Officers were unable to gather any information from the victim due to the severity of her injuries, according to Ms. Freeman.
On Tuesday, officers received notification that the victim had succumbed to her injuries. She was identified by next of kin as Nyla Peele, 47.
