Woman Who Accepted Ride From Stranger Was Allegedly Raped At Altona Lagoon

Crime / News / Virgin Islands / May 7, 2018

ST. CROIX — A woman who accepted a ride from a stranger told police on Saturday that she was raped by the man after being driven to the Altona Lagoon in Christiansted, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glenn announced Sunday.

According to Mr. Dratte, on Saturday at approximately 11:50 p.m., the 911 emergency call center received a call reporting a sexual assault at the Altona Lagoon. Upon officers’ arrival to the area, they encountered a female individual who stated that she was in Christiansted going to meet with friends, when a tan-colored male individual met her and started a conversation.

The man then offered her a ride and told her he could drop her off to meet with her friends. But instead of taking the woman to her destination, he took her to the Altona Lagoon area and sexually assaulted her, according to the victim.

The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with information about this incident to call police at 340-778-2211, or Crime Stoppers USVI with an anonymous tip here.
