It was a violent Friday on St. Thomas as domestic violence and shooting crimes were reported in various parts of the island, including a drive-by shooting that occurred in Estate Contant, leaving two critically wounded, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson has announced.
According to preliminary reports, the pair were about to park their vehicle in the vicinity of China Man Hill when a four-door sedan pulled up in front of them. The passenger of the vehicle that pulled up, stepped out and fired shots at the victims. The assailant then rushed back into the sedan and the car drove off at a high rate of speed.
One of the victims sustained a gunshot wound to the left thigh and the other sustained four gunshot wounds — one to the right forehead, the left chest, buttocks, and center back.
The two were taken to the Roy Schneider Regional Hospital by ambulance for treatment, but were unable to give a statement or any further information due to the severity of their wounds, other than saying they had no knowledge as to the identity of the shooter or driver.
The case is being investigated by detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
