St. Thomas Burglars Pry Open Champs’ Entrance With Tool; Steal ‘Several Thousands Dollars Worth Of Merchandise’

News / Virgin Islands / September 30, 2015

ST. THOMAS — Burglars on this island broke into the Tutu Park Mall and gain entry into several businesses, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced via press release on Monday.

According to Jackson, officers received notification from the 911 emergency call center of a burglary that occurred at the Tutu Park Mall on Monday at about 5:00 a.m.

Arriving at the mall, officers met with staff members of Best Laundromat, who stated that when they arrived at the establishment, they realized that it had been burglarized.

The suspects gained entry by using an exterior door which led into a storeroom, and took an undetermined amount of money from the business.

After having gained entry to the laundry, the suspects then used the roof inside to gain access into the actual mall. They then used an unknown tool to damage the entrance gate to Champs and once inside, stole several thousand dollars worth of merchandise, according to Jackson.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to phone 911 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-(TIPS) 8477 or go to www.crimestoppersusvi.org
