ST. THOMAS — A man living in Vester Gade, Savan was arrested and charged with possession of unlicensed firearms after police found three guns and two bulletproof vests at his place of residence, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced this afternoon.
According to Mr. Jackson, citing a preliminary report, at roughly 5:07 a.m. today, officers received notification from the 911 emergency call center of gunfire being discharged in Vester Gade.
Responding officers converged onto the address made available by the emergency call center. The occupant of the residence opened the door, peeked outside, and was searched by officers, who discovered an ammunition magazine in one of his pockets. Officers then asked the individual if a search of the residence could be conducted, and he gave consent.
The search yielded three firearms with obliterated serial numbers, two bulletproof vests and a large cache of ammunition, according to the release.
Unable to make bail of $25,000, the suspect, identified by police as 36-year-old Zebedee Schulterbrandt, was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.
