ST. CROIX — On Thursday, members of the maintenance crew at the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center (J.F.L.) and contractors began the process of replacing the hospital’s existing chiller plant equipment system, a press release the hospital issued on Friday has revealed. Two new 300-ton variable speed drive rotary screw compressor air-cooled chillers were purchased for J.F.L., and arrived on January 25, 2016.
The new chillers will be installed beginning March 3, 2016 and will affect the access routes closest to the parking lot used by the hospital’s physicians.
When the new units are in position, the air supply in the hospital will need to be turned off for three to four hours during the late afternoon to evening time when it’s cooler for the system switch, according to the release. Hospital units will be given notice prior to the interruption.
All persons in the vicinity of this project are advised to respect all construction barricades and all safety and detour signs posted. J.F.L.’s facilities management team will coordinate with the security department to ensure that there are safe, alternate routes available.
The construction project is expected to last through March 20, 2016 and will take place daily between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 p.m from Monday through Sunday.
J.F.L. appoligized for any inconvenience generated by this project, and thank the staff, and the public for their patience and cooperation during this time.
