ST. THOMAS — A woman who had her children in her vehicle while in the vicinity of a road that leads to the Bovoni Housing Community, was shot at eight times, V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced on Monday.

Ms. Freeman said the 911 emergency call center received notification of the incident at about 1:29 p.m. on Monday and immediately alerted police.

Upon arrival on the scene, contact was made with victim, who said that while driving along Bovoni Road adjacent to the Lima Plaza with her children, she suddenly heard approximately eight gunshots fired. The victim said she immediately sped away fearing for the lives of her children and hers as well. But she had no knowledge of who fired the shots.

No one was injured during this incident and the victim’s vehicle was not damaged.

This case is presently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau, according to Ms. Freeman.
