WAPA Schedules Road Closure On General Gade

Community Center / October 8, 2015

ST. THOMAS — The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority has scheduled a road closure of General Gade, from the USO Building to the traffic light by the St. Peter and Paul Catholic School, beginning Tuesday, October 13, a press release the semi-autonomous entity issued today has made known.

Work on this portion of roadway is estimated to be completed by November 17. Traffic will be re-routed around this portion of General Gade to allow water crews to replace a deteriorated ductile iron 10-inch water main. Repair of the water line is necessary to improve water quality and pressure in the surrounding areas.

Motorists are asked to follow directional signs and flagmen instructions for the safety of crews, pedestrians and other drivers. The Authority apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this road closure, and ensures the public that every effort will be made to restore vehicular traffic as quickly as possible.

For additional information about the upcoming road closure, contact WAPA Water Distribution at 775-5873 or e-mail [email protected].
