St. Thomas Woman Arrested For Striking Husband In Face; Stabbing Him In Left Hand

News / Virgin Islands / November 19, 2015

ST. THOMAS — An enraged woman struck her husband in the face and later stabbed him with a kitchen knife, VIPD Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced this afternoon.

According to Ms. Freeman, citing a preliminary police report, at about 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, officers arrested 29-year-old Elizabeth Veloz of Estate Contant and charged her with third degree assault. The report says after Veloz struck her husband in the face, he pushed her out of a bedroom where the fight was unfolding. But Veloz, still enraged, located a kitchen knife, forced her way into the room and stabbed her husband in his left hand, causing serious injury.

No explanation was made available in the police report in regards to how the brawl ensued, and no bail was set for Veloz, in according with Virgin Islands domestic violence laws. She was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending her advise-of-rights hearing.

I wear many hats, I suppose, but the one which fits me best would be journalism, second to that would be radio personality, thirdly singer/songwriter and down the line. I've been the Editor-In-Chief at my videogames website, Gamesthirst, for over 5 years, writing over 7,000 articles and more than 2 million words. I'm also very passionate about where I live, the United States Virgin Islands, and I'm intent on making it a better place by being resourceful and keeping our leaders honest. VI Consortium was birthed out of said desire, hopefully my efforts bear fruit. Reach me at [email protected].
