Woman Robbed At Gunpoint In St. Thomas

News / Virgin Islands / January 24, 2016

ST. THOMAS — Two thieves on Friday made away with the purse of a woman after they demanded, with guns in hands, that she give up her bag, VIPD Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced on Saturday.

Ms. Freeman said that at about 8:08 p.m. on Friday, officers were dispatched by the 911 emergency call center to a residence located in Estate Bovoni in response to a report of a robbery.

The victim said she had just parked her car when two black males armed with handguns rushed her and yelled, “Give me your bag!” As she attempted to hand over her handbag, the suspects ripped it off her shoulder and ran through a shortcut leading towards the Bovoni Housing Community.

VIPD says the case is currently under investigation, and is asking anyone with information relative to the incident to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 340-714-9823 ext. 5617, Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-714-9807 ext. 5556, Crime Stoppers or the chief’s office at 340-774-2211
